Benefits of the Proform Carbon E10 Elliptical:

The Proform Carbon E10 elliptical is the premium elliptical in Proform’s Carbon series.

These are more affordable front-drive trainers that keep things simple – but with the option to add on extra entertainment features like iFit if you want them.

The Proform Carbon E10 gives you an impressive 10-inch, full-color, HD touch-screen console. So you can see your workout stats – or entertainment – in full color as you workout.

You get a front drive design on this trainer – which many people feel is more comfortable and compact than a rear-drive elliptical design.

It carries a 25-pound flywheel – which is helps to give you a smoother, more stable feel.

Is it the right choice for you?

Here’s a quick review of the main benefits and drawbacks of the Proform E10 Carbon Elliptical trainer:

Console Review:

The console on this trainer is much nicer than other Carbon models. It’s a full-color, HD touch-screen. And at 10 inches it’s also larger than other models – making it easier to see your workout stats.

There’s also a port with speakers to plug in your phone. So you can play your favorite workout music from your phone or other device through the built-in console speakers.

The console is Bluetooth compatible. So you can pair your devices and listen to your workout music that way as well.

You can also connect with iFit Coach through the console screen. iFit is Proform’s online streaming service that lets you track your workouts, set and reach new goals or run famous trails all over the world (more on iFit below).

Another nice touch on this model is that the console tilts. So you can find the right viewing angle for your height without straining your neck.

Travel the World with iFit Coach

The Carbon E10 crosstrainer is iFit compatible through the console screen. iFit is a Proform’s online streaming service.

With iFit you can run famous trails all over the world – from the villages of Santorini to the mountains of Switzerland.

You can either run alone – or watch a workout where a personal trainer coaches you through the workout – pointing out landmarks along the way.

You can also take a high-energy fitness class right from you elliptical console. iFit has everything from yoga to high-calorie-burning to strength training workouts and more.

The cool thing is that iFit can communicate with your elliptical.

The class instructor can actually increase or decrease the resistance or incline on your machine for you during the workout (you can override this feature if you wish).

Note that iFit is completely optional – you don’t need it to use this elliptical. It’s just an add-on if you want it.

However, if you get the E10 Carbon Elliptical through the Manufacturer, you can currently get a full family membership to iFit included for a short time. So you can try it out first to see if it’s right for you.

Get A More Effective Workout With Power Ramp

Ramp (also called incline) changes the slope of your running pathway – helping to crosstrain different muscle groups. It’s a great way to get a more effective workout.

The Proform Carbon E10 gives you from 0 to 20 degrees of Power Ramp. This means you can change it automatically from the console (instead of having to get off the trainer and adjust the ramp manually).

The trainer ramp also responds to the iFit programs. It will incline when the terrain inclines, for example, to give you a more virtual-reality training feel.

Or if you’re doing a workout class, your trainer can change the ramp for you (you can override this if you wish). So you can have a hands-off training experience.

Adjustable Pedals To Find the Right Fit

You can adjust the toe-heel angle with the pedals on this trainer. So you can find the right fit for you and get a more comfortable running path.

Other Benefits of the Proform Carbon E10 Elliptical

This trainer comes with a heavier flywheel than other Carbon models – an impressive 25 pounds. A heavier flywheel helps to give you a smoother-feeling ride.

It can also help anchor the machine and help it feel more stable. This is important if you plan on longer or more intense workouts.

You also get up to 24 digital resistance levels. So this, combined with the 20 degrees of incline gives you a lot of room to grow with this elliptical.

Proform Carbon E10 Review – Any Downsides?

The E10 elliptical doesn’t have the fit and finish of some higher end ellipticals (which you wouldn’t expect since it’s a starter model).  It lacks some of the higher-end options you find on mid-range machines.

For example, you get simple, straight arm bars – not curved for multiple arm positions. There’s also no heart rate hand grip sensors. And it uses a single – not a double-track-roller design.

These things aren’t necessarily deal breakers. It just means it’s not meant for heavy or commercial use.

If you’re looking for a premium machine, this might not be your best choice (Look to higher end Nordictrack or Sole options for that).

Is It Right For You?

If you want a front drive trainer that gives you premium options – but won’t break the bank, the Proform E10 Carbon trainer is worth considering.

You can run famous trails all over the world or take fitness classes from the comfort of your home.

Plus, with the power ramp and resistance levels, you have some great ways to get a more effective workout.

While it lacks a bit of the polish of other mid-range trainers, overall it’s good value for the money at this price point.
