Proform 9.9 vs 12.9 Elliptical Comparison – Which is Best For You?
Trying to decide between the Proform 9.9 vs 12.9 elliptical trainer?
Curious about how they stack up – and which is best for you?

These are both part of Proform’s “Pro” series of ellipticals – higher-grade front-drive trainers with heavy flywheels and dual-wheel-track design for higher stability.
They both give you some great entertainment perks as well.
You can stream fitness classes to your home or run famous world trails with iFit. They also both give you up to 20 degrees of power incline – which helps to change the slope of your running path for better crosstraining.

So how are they different? And which should you choose?
This post will give you a rundown of the main differences between the Proform 9.9 vs 12.9 elliptical trainer to help you make a more informed decision. So let’s dive in.
Proform 9.9 vs 12.9: Price
As of this writing, the Proform Pro 9.9 has a small advantage as far as price goes. You can get it slightly less than the 12.9 model at $1299 with Free Shipping here.
The Proform Pro 12.9 is the next model up and comes in a bit higher at around $1499 with Free Shipping here.
So what do you get for the extra money with the 12.9 model? And is it worth it for you?
Proform Pro 9.9 vs 12.9: Console Differences
The consoles are quite different on these two trainers.
The Proform 9.9 elliptical comes with a smaller, 6-inch, dual-color console display as you can see here:

The Proform 12.9 elliptical steps up to a larger 7-inch, full color, touch-screen console as you can see here:

Obviously the full-color, touch-screen console is a big improvement over the dual-color, non-touch-screen console.
Plus with the color console on the Proform 12. 9 model you can connect directly to iFit online (Proform’s streaming service) and stream workout classes to your home – or trails all over the world.

With the Proform 9.9 model you can’t do this.
You can still stream iFit programs and world trail runs to your elliptical with the 9.9 model – but you’ll need to connect with iFit using your own tablet. And then use the tablet shelf to watch the iFit programs that way.

Proform 12.9 vs 9.9 Elliptical: Flywheel
On an elliptical trainer, a heavier flywheel means a smoother-feeling ride – especially during resistance transitions. A heavier flywheel also helps to anchor the machine for a more stable feel.
The Proform 9.9 elliptical comes with a 28-pound flywheel – which is actually pretty good – and higher than many other elliptical brands at this price point.
However the Proform 12.9 elliptical goes one better with a 32-pound flywheel. So it’s going to give you a more stability and also hold up a bit better over the long run.

iFit Coach Options
iFit Coach is Proform’s online streaming service. It was created to add a whole new dimension of training options to your workout (if you want them).
You can run trails all over the world – from the shores of Hawaii to the streets of Paris to the temples of Thailand.

You can also stream a new workout class to your machine every day.
Both of these ellipticals work with iFit – your class instructor can even control your machines incline and resistance throughout the class for you (you can override this feature if you want).
The difference is, as stated above, that you can connect with iFit and stream programs directly through the console on the Proform 12.9 trainer.
You can’t do this on the Proform 9.9 elliptical – you’ll need to add your tablet and connect with iFit that way.

Bottom Line?
What’s the bottom line when comparing the Proform 9.9 vs 12.9 Pro ellipticals?
Well, each one has their benefits.
The Proform 9.9 elliptical is a bit more simple console-wise. But it’s also more affordable.
And you still get a heavy flywheel, power incline and a dual-wheel track design for added stability.
The Proform 12.9 comes with all of that – plus a slightly heavier flywheel.
And the big difference is that you get a larger, full-color console. You can use this to stream workouts or world trail runs to your machine.
You also get to try iFit out for a full year for the whole family at no cost – which is a great deal.
So it really boils down to what you’re looking for at the end of the day.
