Bowflex Max Trainer M7 Review – Highlights:
The Bowflex Max Trainer M7 is the premium, top-of-the-line model in the popular Max Trainer series. Compared to the other models it gives you more resistance levels, improved console, more built-in workouts, better ergonomic arm bars and improved footpedals.

The Max trainer itself is not exactly an elliptical trainer. It’s more like a hybrid elliptical-stair stepper.
You have the motion of a stair stepper for your lower body and the upper body strength training of elliptical arm bars. The Bowflex Max was specifically designed help you burn more calories in less time.
The Bowflex promise is that you can get a full body, high calorie burning workout in only 14 minutes a day – and they’ve done the tests to prove it.
In fact, according to tests done by Bowflex you can burn up to 2.5 times more calories than standard fitness equipment like an elliptical, stair stepper or treadmill. Some trial Max Trainer users even burned up to 600 calories in 30 minutes – which is amazing.
Tests also showed that the Max Trainer gives you 80% more upper body activation and engages more core and lower body engaged than ellipticals.
The Max M7 has several High Intensity Training workouts that come built into the machine. These HIIT workouts are designed to help you burn maximum calories during your workout – and continue burning more calories even post workout for up to 24 hours.
So if you’re looking for a trainer that can get you faster results in less time, the M7 is a great choice.
Console on the Bowflex M7:
The console on the M7 is an improvement over the other models. It has an enhanced dual mode LCD display and 11 built-in workout programs. There’s also the calorie burn rate meter which shows you when you’re burning the most calories.
There’s a media shelf above the console for your tablet so you can watch movies or TV shows as you workout.
You also get more user profiles than other models – 4 instead of 2. This means up to 4 different people can store their information and they can all individually track their progress with the Bluetooth tracking on Bowflex App. This makes the M7 a great choice for multiple-user families.
The Bowflex Max Trainer M7 also comes with performance targeted programming on the console. As you train the machine learns about your fitness level and goals, setting new targets to coach you and push you further in your workouts – getting you better results over time.
Design Upgrades
The M7 has a few design upgrades over the M3 and M5 models including sports performance racing pedals and more resistance levels (20 vs 16 or 8 on the other trainers).
The commercial grade grips and new aerobar hand positions also make your upper body workout more comfortable and give you more grip options as well.
You also get enhanced Bluetooth tracking on the M7 trainer. You can set, track and monitor your training progress with the Free Bowflex Trainer App. It also syncs with MyFitnessPal and Google Fit if you prefer to use these apps instead.
Another cool thing that Bowflex has recently added is that if you get the M7 through the Manufacturer here you can get 8 Free weeks of streaming workouts on the Daily Burn, which is pretty cool and something you don’t get with other trainers.
Bowflex Max Trainer M7 Review – Additional Benefits:
The Bowflex Max M7 also has the benefit of being more compact than other fitness equipment – it’s smaller than the standard elliptical or treadmill. So if you’re in a condo or apartment – or you have a smaller workout area it’s a great choice.
And if you tend toward shin splints, knee or back problems, the Max Trainer is a great option as it’s low impact. Studies also showed that it’s 2 times easier on the joints than other fitness machines.
And with the 20 different resistance levels, there’s more room to grow with this trainer than the other models.
You won’t top out as easily as you would on the M3 or M5 models. And these resistance levels are very tough (unlike a lot of elliptical trainers). Be warned, you’re best to start out at the first level on your first workout.
Want to stay in your target fat-burning zone? No problem. There are EKG pulse sensors on the M7 console. Or if you order through the Manufacturer here, you can also get a Free wireless heart rate monitor included.
Many people prefer the wireless monitor because it’s more convenient than continually having to grasp the hand sensors (which means you’re not training your upper body).
Bowflex Max Trainer M7 – Any Drawbacks?
While this isn’t really a drawback, it is something to be aware of. While the M7 model is more compact than a standard elliptical it does have a slightly larger footprint than the M5 model.
It measures 49″ L x 30.5″ W compared to 46.1″ L x 25″ W on the M5. This isn’t a huge difference but it is worth considering if you have space restrictions in your home.
