This page lists all of our current Bowflex elliptical machine and Bowflex Max trainer reviews.

You’ll get a quick rundown on each one and why you might want to consider it.

Bowflex used to make a variety of different elliptical trainers.

However, as of this writing, they only have one kind of elliptical: the Bowflex Max Trainer.

The Max Trainer is not what you’d think of as a typical elliptical. It’s more like a stair-stepper-elliptical hybrid with lower body stair climbing motion married with upper body elliptical trainer arm bars.

According to Bowflex, the advantage to this is that it burns up to 2.5 times more calories than a traditional elliptical trainer.

So you see faster results in less time.

Another benefit?

The Max Trainer elliptical takes up about half the space as a regular elliptical. So it’s great for apartments, condos or smaller workout areas.

Here are the latest Bowflex Elliptical Reviews. Check out the links to see how each model rates, along with the benefits and drawbacks of each.

This is currently the most affordable Max Trainer model in the series. This makes the M6 great if you’re on a budget but still want all the benefits of the Max Trainer.

It gives you a backlit console and 16 levels of resistance.

The console is a bit simpler than other ellipticals – but you do get a media shelf to hold your tablet or phone.

A Few Things To Know About Bowflex Elliptical Trainers:

As stated above, Bowflex has discontinued their traditional ellipticals and now simply sell the 3 different Max Trainers under their elliptical arm.

All Max Trainer models give you the same famous high-calorie-burning design with the stair stepping lower body motion along with the elliptical-style upper body arms.

You’ll also find several HIIT training programs either on the machine – or offered with JRNY.

All Bowflex Max Trainers are compatible with Bowflex JRNY – which is Bowflex’s online tracking and streaming app.

You can track your progress over time with JRNY, stream from a library of fitness classes or even explore world trails.

There are 2 versions of Bowflex JRNY – paid and free. You don’t need the paid version to use the machines. You can use the free version and get everything you need from these machines for an effective workout.

One thing to be aware of is that the M9 and Max Total 16 need to connect with JRNY in order to work (even the free version). So you do need an internet connection in your area if you want these models.

Bowflex M6 Console

The Max Trainer M6 on the other hand, doesn’t connect with JRNY through the console (you have to connect through your own tablet or phone).

So technically you don’t need to have internet in your area to use the Max Trainer M6 model. This is something to keep in mind if internet in your workout area is spotty.

One of the biggest benefits of these machines is that they’re designed to get you faster results in less time. They’re ideal for HIIT training workouts.

Because of this, you don’t necessarily need to use them for long periods of time to get an effective workout. In fact some people only use them for 10-15 minutes a day and still get good results.
