Wondering which is best for you?
The HIIT trainer itself is a new twist on the traditional elliptical. Instead of a horizontal or flat running path, it gives you more of a vertical elliptical path.
It’s not straight up-and-down like a stair-climber – it’s a 10-inch vertical stride with a 5-inch horizontal stride.
So it’s like a climbing elliptical motion. The benefit of this?
You recruit more lower body muscle groups and can get a higher-calorie-burning workout. Or basically – you can get a more effective workout in less time.
Both the Proform HIIT H7 and the H14 trainers give you this same vertical, climbing motion.
They both also come with a heavy 30-pound flywheel for added stability, and curved arm bars for multiple arm positions.
So how are they different?
This post will break down some of the main differences between the Proform HIIT H7 vs H14 Elliptical Trainers – so you can make a more informed decision as to which one is right for you.
Proform HIIT H7 vs H14: Price
This is a bit complicated, so we’ll start with the basics:
The Proform HIIT H7 trainer is a bit more affordable, coming in around $1404 with Free Shipping.
The Proform HIIT H14 trainer is the next model up with a few more upgrades. You can get it for around $1799 with Free Shipping here.
So from a budget perspective, the H7 model is a bit more affordable.
Here’s the twist:
Right now, the Proform manufacturer is offering the Proform H7 HIIT for FREE if you buy a 3-year, monthly subscription to iFit Coach.
That works out to $39 a month for 36 months ($1404).
So that means you get the H7 model for free, but you’ll be paying for an iFit monthly subscription for 3 years. The lower monthly payment makes it even more affordable if you’re on a tight budget.
The Proform HIIT H14 is a one-time purchase and you don’t need to buy the iFit monthly subscription.
But if you use the link provided above, you will get a 1-year iFit Family subscription included with your purchase, which is a great deal.
You don’t need iFit to use these machines – but it does add a lot of workout fun to the mix (more on iFit below).
So it really comes down to 2 things – price per machine and financing options.
The Proform HIIT H7 is more affordable – with easier monthly financing options. The Proform HIIT H14 is a one-time payment with no long-term monthly commitment. Neither is better than the other – it just depends on what you prefer.
Proform H7 vs H14 HIIT: Console
The consoles are both full-color, HD and touch-screen friendly. They both connect with iFit online (Proform’s streaming service).
So you can stream in-studio workout classes or run trails all over the world for some virtual reality-style fun.
The difference? The Proform H7 console is a bit smaller at 7-inches across as seen here:
The Proform H14 console is double the size at 14-inches across as seen here:
So the H14 HIIT trainer console is a lot more fun to watch with the larger screen. It can really pull you into the different iFit trails and in-studio workouts.
It’s kind of like having a larger TV screen – for many people, bigger is better.
Here’s another view of the Proform HIIT H7 console:
And the Proform HIIT H14 console:
Note that both consoles tilt so you can find the optimal viewing angle for you. They both also come with dual-speed cooling fans and music ports with built-in speakers.
Proform H7 vs H14 HIIT: Resistance
The HIIT H7 model comes with 24 resistance levels. The HIIT H14 comes with 26 resistance levels.
This isn’t a huge difference. But it does mean you have a bit more room to grow with the Proform H14 HIIT trainer as your fitness level improves over time.
Quick Note on iFit
Since iFit is an important factor in deciding between the Proform H7 vs H14 HIIT trainers, we should probably talk about what it is exactly.
iFit is Proform’s online streaming service.
You can do a lot with iFit. But probably the most important features are the in-studio workouts and the around-the globe workouts.
iFit carries thousands of in-studio workouts to choose from. Follow your favorite trainer as they lead you through the class.
The class instructor can even control the trainer resistance for you automatically (you can override this if you wish).
With a lot of people having to stay home these days and not being able to get to the gym, this is a great feature that can bring the gym to you. iFit is even preparing to launch LIVE streaming classes in the next few months which will give you even more options.
You can also run trails all over the world and watch the landmarks pass you by in the console screen. Or follow different trainers as they lead you through the trail, pointing out interesting landmarks along the way.
Again, there are thousands of workouts to choose from and they are always adding new ones.
With iFit you can also track your workouts over time and even get new fitness and diet recommendations based on your stated goals. It’s very much a “Smart Training” technology that you can use to reach new fitness goals.
So as you can see, with all of the iFit workouts and video streaming options – some people do prefer to have the larger screen on the H14. For other people, they may not care too much. But it’s worth knowing.
Also, as stated above, as of this writing, if you get the Proform H14 HIIT trainer through the Manufacturer, you can get a 1-year Family Membership to iFit included.
So you don’t have to pay for it – but you can try it out for a full year to see if it’s right for you, which is a great deal.
So what’s the bottom line when comparing the Proform HIIT H7 vs H14 trainers?
Each one has it’s benefits.
The Proform HIIT H7 is more affordable – and offers better financing options. It also still gives you the popular features of the HIIT trainer like a vertical climbing motion and heavy 30-pound flywheel.
The Proform HIIT H14 however comes with a much larger console screen – double the size – which can give you a more immersive training experience. You also get more resistance levels to grow over time.
So it really comes down to what you’re looking for at the end of the day.
